Fiery Gladius....dunno if that is really under-rated, but i rarely hear about outside of this thread.(people seem to like the Fiery Dragon more, but I think the Fiery dragon is just a little too gaudy)
Mine is just a purple with like a +24 HP mod and 13^50 inscrip, permanently belongs to my Koss, looks pretty sweet with his Skull Shield. (another fav for me tho prolly not under-rated)

I'm in total agreement with ya, FG actually gets the flame around the whole blade with FdS just have flames around the upper part of the blade.(there is a considerable length above the sword guard that isn't engulfed in flames)

Yes, it is indeed animated. I had a req9 inscribable drop for me in GW:EN, and it looks really nice. Dyes are not too impressive, most colors seem to only affect the overall brigtness. silver/white makes it very bright, though black does give a it that classic almost tormented look (but still not quite as black as I would wish):
Now I only need to find a decent air build for my ele. Dual attunement air spiker is boring..

Does anyone notice a trend?
The prettiest / most underrated skins were already around in Prophecies. :>

About the trend, because prophecies was the best GW imo, and they actually did put some effort into making item skins.

I personally find that simple skins look better. Sure, you can zoom in, stand still and be in awe of the exalted aegis, but honestly, in the heat of battle, it becomes a big mess. I think Tormented shields/swords are awesome for that reason, they remain distinct and aweinspiring in the midst of battle. Also, those overdimensioned weapons just look silly, honestly. Dead Sword is like a mile long...
Simple is better. Simple + beautiful + real-sized + animated is best!
(Now why cant they make an elite warrior armor that does not look bulky with a million pointy things sticking out everywhere! starter paragon armor FTW!)

QFT. The same goes for a Long Sword, they are always in demand, lots of people like them. It's not about personal preferences really.
In my opinion, one of the most truly underrated skins in the game is the Grinning Dragon Axe -- even in this thread nobody has mentioned it yet. Very original and nice looking skin, quite rare and absolutely unpopular, for some reason.

I've only considered swords here. There are some cool skins if you dig around

I've just made a para and I really like the suntouched spear, it appears to be common, but it has a nice look to it imo.

For me, my favourite underrated skins have to be:
Crude Shield (Dyes so awesomely)
Shield of the Lion (Same reason)
Ball Hammer
Ram's Hammer/Giant Slayer's
Glacial Blade

Sword: Crenellated.
Axe: Hand Axe/White Scythe.
Hammer: Plagueborn.
Bow: Plagueborn.
Scythe: Briarwood.
Shield: Summit Warlord.
Those are by far my favorites, even though some of them are very common and others are pretty unusual.
But meh - beauty is in the eye...

It's one of the most sought after (and rarest) skins, primarily due to the fact that it's the only sword that does blunt damage.
